About Me
We work in the area of isoprenoid biosynthetic pathways, biocatalysis and assay based isolation and characterization of natural products. The isoprenoid biosynthetic pathways provide intermediates for the synthesis of a vast variety of structurally and chemically diverse natural products that serve numerous biochemical functions in living systems. We are interested in elucidation of the isoprenoid biosynthetic pathways with special emphasis on establishing the mechanisms of the enzyme-catalyzed transformations and to understand, how the enzymes promote the reactions using the concepts and tools of molecular biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology, and organic chemistry. Our group also involved in utilization of nature's catalysts in organic synthesis. We screen the whole cell microorganisms or isolated enzymes, which can carryout the desired transformation on natural products and xenobiotics which are of biological and commercial interest. Our lab is well equipped and established for conducting the research in multidisciplinary area of Chemical Biology.
