About Me

Research focus of our group is on advanced composites and fiber materials. Polymers have become a material of choice in a gamut of applications owing to their structural versatility, processability, and lower density. In many applications such as organic electronics, solid electrolyte membranes, filtration materials, and surface coatings, material criteria are too complicated to be met by any single easily accessible polymer.  A nanocomposite approach is attractive because multiple functionalities can be programmed into the material by tailoring the properties of polymers and nanofillers. We are interested in developing composite and fibrous materials  that can address specific challenges in energy, water purification and health care. Another major area of interest of our research group is biopolymers, specifically enhancing their processability and enabling technologically relevant materials. We also focus on elucidating structure-property relationships governing composite materials through systematic investigation of polymer- filler and filler- filler interactions.
