Polymer Science & Engineering Division 

 

The Polymer Science and Engineering (PSE) division at NCL is the most integrated R&D group in the area of polymers within the public sector in India.

   With competencies ranging from monomer synthesis to product development the group prides itself of being able to contribute to every single process in the life cycle of a polymer. The PSE division is made of a coherent group of polymer chemists, polymer physicists, materials scientists, and chemical and polymer engineers in addition to PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. The key knowledge competencies currently existing in the PSE group include polymerization chemistry, polymerization catalysis, materials characterization, structure-property relationships, blends and composites, polymer processing, theory and simulations, water soluble polymers, biomass and biorenewables, conducting polymers, biomimetic polymers, degradability and life cycle analysis, and controlled release formulations. Our research impacts areas that are critical to ensuring a high quality of life and that contribute to economic progress - areas including energy security, access to clean water, protection of the environment, and affordable healthcare.
