Research in our group involves identification of bioactive compounds from natural sources and development of novel strategies for the synthesis of biologically active molecules:

Ø  Identification of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants/microbes

Natural products represent the richest source of novel molecular scaffolds and chemistry. The chemical diversity of natural products has guided the drug discovery research worldwide. Bioassay guided isolation of secondary metabolites from plants and microbes and structure elucidation remain an important area of research in our lab towards identification of new leads.

Ø   Development of new methodologies for the synthesis of bioactive molecules

Our group is working on development of synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of bioactive compounds as well as late stage functionalization of natural products to enhance bioactivities. Our synthetic studies are mainly directed towards new therapeutics for parasitic diseases and anticancer agents.
