Foundation stone for NCL was laid

3rd January 1950

NCL declared open by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India

1950 to 1960
Formative Years; creation of discipline oriented research divisions


1960 to 1970

NCL establishes its credentials as a world class research laboratory in the area of organic chemistry and chemistry of natural products
Formative Years; creation of discipline oriented research divisions

 

1980 to 1990

NCL establishes advanced facilities for research in catalysis and polymer science.
Processes based on heterogeneous catalysts transferred to Indian industry.

1990 to 2002

NCL products, processes and intellectual property find global markets.
NCL establishes global research partnerships.


2000 to Current
NCL builds new research facilities, resource centers and knowledge competencies. 
NCL focuses on improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency. 
Renaissance in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry.
