Students can be selected as project assistants (PAs) anytime during the year, in response to advertisements that are floated for specific projects by scientists.

Temporary positions

PAs are expected to do work specifically related to the project under which they have been hired. Following a minimum of two years experience, PAs can appear for an interview to be accepted into the NCL PhD. program. In addition to the two years (minimum) of research experience, the PA is also expected to have (i) either two publications or (ii) one publication along with having cleared a National Level examination. Following acceptance into the NCL PhD. program, all the requirements to complete the PhD., specified under the "PhD" section above, will also apply for the student.
